Volunteering at the Uptown Cafe is an incredible experience for our Central School students, offering them a unique opportunity to provide dignity, hop and sustenance to those in need.
Located on the North Side of Chicago, the Uptown Cafe is a restaurant style anti-hunger program, where once a month our students serve the Cafe patrons a sit-down hot meal, and also share their company and time with people in need.
Students will meet in the Oasis immediately after school, where they are served a light snack. We leave for the cafe at 4:15pm and finish serving dinner at 7:00pm. Students will then be dropped off at home by 7:45pm.
Students interested in registering for this program must turn in a permission slip. And if you have any questions about the program, feel free to contact David Gonzalez or Mimi Hahn for more information at 847.835.7623 or contact(at)gjhp.org.
