Social Activities and Events

The following events represent past years programs, fall 2020 events will take place virtually until further notice. Please view online social event offerings on our website calendar.

Backyard BBQ 

Every fall the GJHP welcomes 5-8th grade students and their families back to school with the Backyard BBQ, an opportunity for our middle school community to play games, listen to music and meet old and new friends.

Mud Run

The Glencoe Mud Run is a GJHP/ Glencoe Park District co- sponsored event, where kids ages 7-14 test their physical stamina running, jumping, and balancing over a 1.25 mile, muddy obstacle course.

Skate Night
12/13/2019 and 2/7/2020

Twice a year GJHP and the Glencoe Park District team up to offer Skate Night at the Watts Center.  Open to all Glencoe middle school students,  Skate Nights feature an evening of skating, s'mores and games with friends.

Glencoe 2020

Open to all Glencoe middle school students, Glencoe 2020 is an Olympic-themed event where students, grades 5-8th, compete in fun challenges representative of the Olympic Games followed by a pizza party.

The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race is a scavenger hunt/ pizza party, directed at 5th grade students to help acclimate to their new school.

Halloween Hoopla

Every October, the GJHP sponsors the Halloween Hoopla, a 5-8th grade costume party featuring a professional DJ, photobooth, costume contests and treats! 

Sixth Grade Social

Every spring the GJHP sponsors the Sixth Grade Social -- an opportunity for all sixth-grade students to connect with friends and socialize. The Sixth Grade Social features a D.J., photobooth, games and snacks.

Beach Bash

On the last day of school, the GJHP celebrates the beginning of summer with the annual Beach Bash at Glencoe Beach. All middle school students are welcome to celebrate the end of the school year with beach games, contests, sand volleyball, BBQ and much more!


The Glencoe Junior High Project (GJHP) is a parent-led, non-profit organization that has sought to engage Glencoe middle school students into the community since 1973. In order to carry out our mission of fostering socially aware, civic-minded and community-oriented individuals, we offer Glencoe 5th-8th grade students, opportunities to volunteer in their community, attend social activites and events, perform on stage, as well as access to a youth drop-in center in Glencoe's Central School.
