The annual GJHP musical is open to all Glencoe 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This is one of the largest productions in the area, with a team of professionals providing an experience like those at New Trier, including exciting dances, awesome harmonies, great costumes and a live band. This no-cut production of Rock of Ages: Teen Edition will be open to all Glencoe 6th-8th graders. Samara Harand (Legally Blonde, Footloose, High School Musical) returns to direct and choreograph.

Rock of Ages: Teen Edition will be performed LIVE in Misner Auditorium at Central School, for four performances, April 18-21, 2024, and will be appropriate for audiences of all ages. GJHP's production is subject to licensing availability. Please contact Samara Harand with any questions.

Rock of Ages: Teen Edition takes you back to the times of big bands, big egos, and even bigger hair! It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging. Aqua Net, Lycra, Acid Wash Jeans, and Heavy Metal flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, a place where rocker Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and groupies line up for their chance at an autograph. But the rock ‘n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when European developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, and more hold the answer!
IMPORTANT NOTE: The stage version of Rock of Ages is VERY DIFFERENT from the movie - which significantly changed the plot, characters and songs. Rock of Ages: Teen Edition is more similar to the popular, Tony-nominated Broadway musical, but has been made appropriate for young performers and family audiences, while maintaining the awesome songs and fun of the original musical.

Rock of Ages: Teen Edition has been adapted from the original Broadway hit to create a version ready for schools and youth programs. This Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical features the hits of bands including REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Poison, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake, and others. The unforgettable rock anthems have been adjusted for teen voices and some subject matter has been adjusted for appropriateness to suit young performers and family audiences.
Nominated for 5 Tonys (including Best Musical), the show features 80s hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” and “Here I Go Again,” that will bring audiences to their feet.

Rock of Ages: Teen Edition features a huge cast with lots of lead and featured roles, epic songs & dances, and fun costumes. All Glencoe 6th-8th graders are encouraged to audition. Don’t miss a musical so awesome, you’ll wanna rock! Stay tuned for more information.

The GJHP Musical is a no-cut show open to Glencoe 6th-8th graders for both the Cast and Crew. This is one of the largest productions in the area, with a professional creative team providing an experience like those at New Trier High School, including exciting dances, awesome harmonies, great costumes and live band. Misner will be transformed with a huge set, lights and sound.

The Crew is a critical part of the GJHP Musical. Members are responsible for behind-the-scenes elements like running lights and sound, managing props, and changing set pieces during the show.
