This holiday season District 35, Glencoe PTO & GJHP are working together to support children in need from Chavez Elementary Multicultural Academy in Chicago. Students are writing letters to their “Secret Snowman" briefly introducing themselves and listing a few special wish items. Please help support a child by fulfilling their wishes!

 

All gifts are valued at approximately $30 total per sponsored child. Gifts must be dropped off to Central School in early December.

Specific dates and drop-off instructions coming soon!

 

We will also be seeking volunteers for the gift drop-off as well as drivers to help deliver the gifts to Chavez Elementary in time for the holidays. Stay tuned for a sign-up link!

2024 INFORMATION

We need your help in making a child’s Secret Snowman wish come true!

 

To sponsor a child:

  • Click the link below and sign up to confirm your participation.

  • Your sponsored Chavez child’s Secret Snowman letter will be sent home with your District 35 student STARTING November 6. If you have siblings in the district, please specify ONLY ONE student when registering and we will send the letter home with the specified child.

  • Shop for one or more of the items on your sponsored child’s wish list. We estimate that all gifts in each child’s wish list will total approximately $30.

  • Please WRAP all gifts, as they will be delivered directly to the Chavez student!

  • You must also LABEL each gift with the sponsored student’s NAME & NUMBER listed on your Secret Snowman letter. (The letter will contain a number in the upper left corner)

  • Attach the Secret Snowman letter to your gift. (Chavez School requires the letters in order to distribute gifts at their school.)

  • Drop off your WRAPPED and LABELED gift(s) at Misner Auditorium at Central School on December 9 or 10, from 8:30am to 4pm. Please use the Misner entrance at 621 Grove Street. Volunteers will be on-site collecting the gifts. IMPORTANT: Please do not try to access Misner Auditorium via the Central School entrance at 620 Greenwood Avenue. Use the Grove Street entrance on the other side of the building ONLY.

GJHP MISSION STATEMENT

The Glencoe Junior High Project (GJHP) is a parent-led, non-profit organization that has sought to engage Glencoe middle school students into the community since 1973. In order to carry out our mission of fostering socially aware, civic-minded and community-oriented individuals, we offer Glencoe 5th-8th grade students opportunities to volunteer in their community, attend social activities and events, perform on stage, as well as access to a youth drop-in center in Glencoe's Central School.
