The 8th Grade Project is a unique program that gives students the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of producing (and performing) a musical, working with Director Samara Harand! This program is open to Glencoe 8th graders only with roles available on and off stage! Please see below for additional information and to register now!

8th graders interested in cast, creative team, and/or crew are encouraged to participate. All roles - on and off stage - will be determined by Samara during the initial weeks of the program. Conflicts are allowed with scheduling based on the role in the production. Potential members of the Central Girls Volleyball team should contact Samara before enrolling!

This production is subject to licensing availability through Music Theatre International and large student enrollment. This show will be appropriate for our 8th grade participants and audiences!​

In Fall 2026, 8th Graders will have the opportunity to produce and perform the irresistible musical that has captured the hearts of millions around the world - MAMMA MIA! Audiences worldwide have fallen in love with the characters, the story and the music that make Mamma Mia! the ultimate feel-good musical! The story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale, creating an unforgettable show.
On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the Greek island they last visited 20 years ago. Songs including “Dancing Queen,” “The Winner Takes It All,” “Money, Money, Money,” and “Take a Chance on Me” are all featured in this feel-good celebration of love, family and friendship.

​In 2008, MAMMA MIA! The Movie became the highest grossing live action musical film of all time. A second film, MAMMA MIA! Here We Go Again, opened in July 2018 and is the most successful live musical movie sequel of all time.
